Q1: What is the stem length of this thermometer?

A: The probe on the Lodge thermometer measures 5 1/8 Inch. This measurement does not include the added length of the dial.

Q2: IS THIS ITEM 12" OR 5-1/2" LONG??? IT SHOWS BOTH ON THE AD. ANG

A: The thermometer is 5 1/8th inches long including the number dial. The 12 inch measurement you saw was the shipping length measurement. This measurement would have included the box.
