Q1: Can silicone cookware be used in a microwave/convenction oven? Thanks!
A: Yes, Silicone cookware is microwave safe, and it is oven safe up to the recommended temperature listed by the manufacturer. Our Silicone Zone USA line is ovensafe up to 572 degrees Fahrenheit/300 degrees Celsius. Our World Cuisine line is ovensafe up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.
Q2: do you have to grease your pans? Do you put the pan on a cookie sheet or something?
A: Most silicone bakeware instructions state that you do not need to grease or flour the pans; however, it has been my experience that it is very helpful to do both. I have found that there is truth to the old addage, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". It is recommended, if you have a heavier batter, to place the silicone baking pan on a baking sheet. I have not needed to support my silicone baking thus far, but I have not made a batch of muffins or anything heavier than banana bread.
Q3: Can I use a silicone baking pan in my gas oven? If yes, do I need to change the temperature setting for any of my recipes? Thanks Ann
A: Yes, you definately can use your Silicone Zone USA bakeware in your gas oven. I would keep it clear of the pilot light, but it will function just fine. You will not need to adapt your temperature in any way to accommodate the Silicone bakeware.
Q4: I found a few bad reviews on silicone bakewares. People complained, that their cakes "stuck to the bottom". Will greasing the pans help with this problem? Thanks Ann
A: The instructions for most silicone bakeware will state that you do not need to grease or flour the pan, but it has been my personal experience that it is very helpful to do so. I have never wanted to risk ruining my baking efforts for lack of preparation, so I have always greased and floured. I have never had trouble with my silicone baked good sticking.
